Daming International and Wärtsilä Discuss Marine Fuel Systems and Large-Scale Manufacturing Cooperation

On September 8, Daming International visited Wärtsilä’s Vaasa centre in Finland to discuss potential cooperation in marine fuel systems, large-scale marine structures and clean-energy equipment.

The Daming delegation was led by Chairman Zhou Keming, together with senior representatives from Daming Heavy Industry, Daming Energy Equipment and Daming Europe. The Wärtsilä team included Bjorn Sandgards, General Manager of Marine Gas Systems FGSS Manufacturing & Procurement, Product General Manager Piero Zoglia, and Strategic Procurement representatives Helen Park and Johan Nystrom.

The discussions focused first on the development of marine fuel systems and related storage technologies. Wärtsilä’s marine gas systems team shared its latest progress and market outlook for LNG, methanol and ammonia fuel systems and storage tanks. The two sides also discussed sourcing requirements for large marine engine structures and engine foundations, providing a clear starting point for further cooperation.

The Daming delegation subsequently toured Wärtsilä’s Vaasa Visitor Centre and marine engine assembly workshop. The visit provided a closer look at Wärtsilä’s development in marine propulsion, the evolution of marine engine technology and its latest research and applications in alternative marine fuels, as well as its current manufacturing and assembly processes.

Daming presented its latest capabilities and project experience in marine engineering equipment, large marine metal structures and clean-energy fuel tanks. The presentation covered major projects currently under production, together with the overall development plan for Daming Heavy Industry’s new No. 10 facility and its 600-ton gantry-equipped outdoor assembly area. These capabilities are designed to support the fabrication and assembly of large and complex equipment for marine and energy applications.

Building on the discussions, the two sides explored several specific areas for future cooperation, including business development, joint development of key products and the application of new materials for marine fuel tanks in the Chinese market. The discussions also highlighted opportunities to combine Wärtsilä’s expertise in marine energy systems with Daming’s integrated manufacturing and metal-processing capabilities.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular communication and continue evaluating practical cooperation opportunities, with a focus on key products, manufacturing requirements and the growing demand for cleaner marine fuel solutions.
