POSCO Visits Daming to Benchmark Production and Equipment Management

Daming recently welcomed a delegation from POSCO Yantai (CYPC) and POSCO Suzhou (CSPC) for a focused exchange on production management, equipment operations and manufacturing coordination.

Daming Vice President Zhang Jun and representatives from its manufacturing and operations teams joined the visit. The POSCO delegation toured Daming’s Wuxi headquarters, Jingjiang manufacturing base and Yangtze River terminal to gain a closer look at how Daming coordinates processing, production, quality control and logistics across its manufacturing network.

At the production sites, the delegation reviewed Daming’s end-to-end processing capabilities and standardized shop-floor management, as well as its experience in handling specialty steel grades. The visit also highlighted the role of Daming’s port facilities in connecting manufacturing operations with material handling and delivery, supporting an integrated production and logistics flow.

During the discussions, Daming introduced its group-wide operating model and manufacturing capabilities, including cross-base production coordination, resource allocation and one-stop processing services. Rather than operating each site independently, Daming coordinates capacity, equipment and production resources across its manufacturing bases to respond more flexibly to customer requirements and maintain consistent quality and delivery performance.

The two sides also exchanged practical experience in production control and equipment management. Daming shared its approach to production planning, performance management, process supervision and cross-site resource sharing, with a focus on improving equipment utilization, strengthening operational control and making better use of available manufacturing capacity.

For POSCO, the visit provided an opportunity to benchmark Daming’s production and equipment management practices directly at the shop-floor level. The discussions also identified potential areas for closer cooperation, particularly in production coordination, equipment maintenance, process adaptation and technical support.

The exchange marks another step toward more closely connected operations between the two sides. Daming and POSCO will continue to maintain regular technical and operational communication, turning the experience gained through benchmarking into practical improvements in production efficiency, equipment performance, quality control and delivery.

Through closer coordination and the sharing of manufacturing experience, both sides aim to build a more responsive and efficient basis for future cooperation.
