Daming High-Strength Cut-to-Length Processing Advantages for Large Engineering Machinery Applications

A China-based engineering machinery manufacturer experiencing a rapid increase in production demand has received a batch of high-strength cut-to-length plates processed by Daming International at its Jingjiang facility. The order involved more than 1,200 tons of material with strict requirements on flatness, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical stability.

At the early stage of cooperation, the customer expressed concerns regarding the processing suitability and dimensional control of 6 mm Q355B medium plate in cut-to-length applications. To address this, Jingjiang Daming organized a dedicated trial production program focused on stress-relief leveling and precision cut-to-length processing.

The trial samples were validated in the customer’s production environment. Results confirmed stable flatness performance and consistent mechanical behavior under processing conditions. The cut-to-length plates were subsequently used as a direct substitute for conventional medium plate supply in the application, improving overall material utilization and reducing procurement cost.

Processing Capability and Production Setup

The solution was supported by Jingjiang Daming’s integrated leveling and cut-to-length processing system, designed for high-strength and coil-based plate applications:

  • Multi-roller synchronized leveling line with full-width tension control for stress relief and shape correction
  • Adjustable roller configuration for different steel grades and thickness ranges
  • Segment-controlled leveling system for localized flatness correction
  • Online monitoring of leveling parameters with process adjustment during production

Dimensional and Downstream Performance Control

  • Controlled flatness achieved through stress-relief leveling process
  • Stable diagonal and edge accuracy suitable for downstream welding and assembly
  • Improved bending consistency and reduced deformation in subsequent fabrication processes
  • Verified performance in customer-side trial production before batch release

Cost and Supply Chain Optimization

  • Conversion from medium plate to cut-to-length coil-based solution reduced material cost
  • Improved yield through optimized nesting and cutting layout
  • Reduced intermediate handling and preparation steps in customer production flow
  • Consolidated processing route supported faster delivery cycles

The project demonstrates the feasibility of replacing conventional medium-thickness plate supply with stress-relieved cut-to-length plate solutions under validated production conditions, providing stable performance and improved cost efficiency for high-demand engineering machinery applications.
