Jingjiang Daming Breaks New Ground in Machining Ultra-Long Steel Plates

Jingjiang Daming recently completed a major milestone by efficiently processing over 1,000 tons of heavy steel structure export orders. These were no ordinary steel components—the longest plates exceeded 16.3 meters, with an incredible length-to-width ratio of 47:1, and thicknesses ranging from 25 to 60 mm. The project had a tight one-month deadline, and the customer required extremely high standards for dimensional accuracy, straightness, and surface and cross-section markings.

Despite the technical challenges and time pressure, Jingjiang Daming not only delivered on quality but also set a new benchmark in production efficiency. The first batch of 600 tons was cut in just two weeks, showcasing the company’s strong technical capabilities and its leading position in the heavy steel processing field.

Smart Planning and Advanced Equipment Drive Precision and Speed

From the start, all departments worked together seamlessly. A special coordination meeting helped the team analyze challenges and plan solutions that balanced speed and precision. The solution: a 28-meter × 8-meter CNC precision cutting table equipped with a multi-torch flame cutting system. This allowed multiple plates to be cut at the same time with several torches, dramatically improving efficiency. At the same time, the system ensured straightness and minimized defects, even for ultra-long plates.

Because these plates were special-sized and made from specific materials, experienced operators were assigned, and a double-check system for torch spacing was implemented before every cut. This “double assurance” guaranteed precise cutting and high-quality results.

Innovative Workflow Solves Logistical Challenges

Handling ultra-long plates presents logistical difficulties, from lifting and moving to space management. Jingjiang Daming tackled this by moving away from traditional linear workflows. Instead, grinding, marking, straightening, and packaging were carried out simultaneously in a coordinated “parallel” process. A detailed daily plan minimized waiting times and repeated handling, creating a smooth, compact, and efficient production flow.

Customer Approval Confirms Global Competence

Thanks to careful planning, advanced equipment, and teamwork, the first batch of 600 tons received full customer approval, setting the stage for on-time completion of the entire order. This project highlights Jingjiang Daming’s ability to handle high-end, special, and urgent orders and reinforces its strong reputation in the international market.
