Hubei Daming, one of Daming’s eleven processing centers, has completed the high-precision fabrication and delivery of a batch of ultra-long, thin-gauge, irregularly shaped components for a leading petrochemical enterprise.

This delivery involved components with a thickness of only 3 mm and lengths ranging from 6 to 8 meters, all featuring non-standard, asymmetrical geometries. The parts are designed for use in high-precision assemblies within petrochemical equipment, where structural integrity, tight dimensional tolerances, and aesthetic consistency are crucial.

 

Conventional manufacturing approaches, including standard tooling or fixture-based positioning, were insufficient due to the irregular profiles and the client’s stringent assembly-level fit and finish requirements. Instead, the Hubei Daming team adopted a high-accuracy reference-point bending process, applying advanced CNC programming and process simulation to ensure consistent, repeatable results.

 

Engineering Through Complexity: Collaborative Process Design

From project initiation, the technical team undertook a detailed geometric decomposition of the component designs, performing finite element estimations on bend radius behaviors and stress distribution to optimize tooling paths. Each bending R angle was precisely calculated, with tolerances tightly controlled to ensure perfect linearity and repeatability of curvature—a critical factor for seamless downstream assembly.

 

Surface protection was another major concern. Given the appearance importance of the final product and the sensitivity of thin materials to deformation, pre-production trials and statistical process control (SPC) were conducted to validate process stability and dimensional repeatability.

 

Throughout the project lifecycle, Hubei Daming maintained close technical engagement with the customer, participating in multiple design reviews and on-site coordination meetings. These efforts ensured that all processing methodologies were aligned with the client’s ISO 2768-f precision standards and visual acceptance criteria for high-end industrial equipment.

Specialized clamping techniques were applied to mitigate part deflection during handling, and dimensional checks were continuously monitored using laser measuring systems to ensure compliance with GD&T specifications. The accumulated tolerance across mating parts was held within ±0.3 mm, meeting the stringent requirement for multi-part seamless splicing in the final on-site installation.
