Recently, TISCO has successfully ensured more than 11,000 tons of 9Ni steel materials and prefabrication services for 4 270,000m³ LNG storage tanks for the world’s largest CNOOC Binhai Phase I Expansion Project in Jiangsu Province, with the help of Baosteel and Daming.

CNOOC Jiangsu Binhai LNG receiving terminal project is a key planning project for the construction of national natural gas production, supply, storage and marketing system and interconnection, selected as one of the “Top Ten Super Projects of Central Enterprises in 2022”, with a total of 10 large LNG tanks in the first phase, which is the largest LNG reserve base in the country and the largest LNG receiving terminal of one-time construction in the world. It is the largest LNG reserve base in China and also the largest one-time construction project of LNG receiving terminal in the world.

It is understood that Jiangsu Binhai Yancheng “Green Energy Port” Phase I Expansion Project Tank No. 9 has been on the eve of the National Day, the successful completion of the hydraulic test (one of the key tests of the LNG tank performance test, but also to check the liquid-tightness of the inner tank weld and the tank foundation bearing capacity to meet the requirements of the important process), for the industry, the construction of ultra-large tanks to provide useful reference, but also mark the world’s largest single LNG storage base, and also the largest single LNG receiving station project in the world. It also marks the basic completion of the main project of the world’s largest single tank capacity of 270,000m³ LNG storage tank. The other five tanks will carry out the installation of inner tank wall plates and pipelines, hydraulic test and other operations one after another.

Relying on the rich experience in 9Ni steel processing and the performance advantages of advanced equipment, Daming actively cooperated with TISCO to complete the steel used for the inner tanks of two 220,000m³ LNG tanks and four 270,000m³ LNG tanks in the first phase of the project with high quality, among which the 270,000m³ tanks cover an area comparable to that of a standard soccer field, and are the largest tanks in the world in terms of capacity independently designed and built by China.

Compared with traditional small and medium-sized LNG storage tanks, the design and construction difficulties have increased exponentially along with the increase in capacity and size. Daming is responsible for the prefabrication and processing of the inner tanks of LNG storage tanks in accordance with the project delivery plan and the actual arrival of materials. During the service period, Daming finely manages each process, including continuous optimization and improvement of the process from receiving materials, prefabrication and processing, transportation, etc., and ultimately completes the project successfully to ensure the supply of the project.
In addition to Jiangsu Binhai LNG project, Daming and TISCO have also cooperated with CNOOC Tianjin II and Zhuhai LNG projects. The two sides have combined their strengths, complemented each other’s strengths, and empowered each other in both directions to expand each other’s influence in the prefabrication service of LNG tanks, and practiced the mission of “building a high-quality iron and steel ecosystem together” with practical actions.

At present, Daming has served nearly 70 LNG tanks and about 100,000 tons of prefabricated materials, covering more than 40% of LNG receiving terminals from Guangxi to Caofeidian, Tianjin, and will gradually develop overseas LNG projects and land-based LNG receiving terminal projects.
Relying on the close connection with steel mills, rich experience in processing and manufacturing and the advantage of “one-stop” service, Daming will continue to plough into the LNG field, constantly improve the service level, and help customers realize light assets, quick delivery, high quality and good cost with the whole-process “package” prefabrication service of storage tanks.
