Hubei Daming Achieves Breakthrough in Machining Nickel-Based Superalloys

Hubei Daming has recently completed a batch of precision planing and edge milling operations on N06601 nickel-based high-temperature alloy plates, delivering stable and high-quality products to the customer. This project further demonstrates the company’s strong technical capability and solid reputation in the field of advanced specialty alloy machining.

The materials involved featured multiple specifications with thicknesses ranging from 8 to 21 mm, and a maximum single plate length of 5,700 mm—representing typical high-difficulty machining components. Cross-functional collaboration between the sales, engineering, and production teams enabled the successful completion of trial processing through optimized process design and standardized operations. The precision cutting performance and edge-forming quality were well received by the customer, leading directly to follow-up mass production orders.

The challenges increased significantly in the subsequent batch production phase. The trimming allowance was limited to only 3–6 mm, requiring tight tolerance control, particularly for diagonal accuracy. In addition, some plates exhibited severe camber deformation, requiring both straightness correction and simultaneous double-bevel planing. This placed higher demands on stress control and forming stability during processing.

To address the known machining difficulties of nickel-based alloys—such as work hardening, residual stress sensitivity, and stringent geometric tolerance requirements—Hubei Daming optimized cutting strategies and tool paths while strictly controlling deformation during processing. As a result, the finished products achieved burr-free edges, flat plate surfaces, precise dimensions, and consistently uniform bevels. The entire batch passed inspection in a single acceptance.

The successful completion of this project marks another important milestone for Hubei Daming in the precision machining of high-temperature and specialty alloys. The company will continue to advance its machining capabilities and provide reliable one-stop material processing solutions for customers in industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, energy and chemical engineering, and environmental furnace applications.
