In the shipbuilding industry, ship plates are key components of the hull structure. The machining accuracy and efficiency directly affect the overall building quality and cycle. The traditional way of ship plate machining often faces cutting deformation, lack of beveling precision, low material utilization and other pain points.
With advanced techniques and technology, sophisticated equipment and vast experiences in machining services, Hangzhou Daming tackled various problems met during the fabrication.
The order was from a well-known domestic shipbuilder, requiring thickness of steel plates processed from 8mm to 40mm. Other requirements include:
– High precision cutting (error ≤±0.5mm);
– Complex curves and bevels molded at one time;
– Reducing thermal deformation and avoiding subsequent calibration processes;
– Enhance the material utilization rate and reduce the scrap rate.
Upon receiving the order, Hangzhou Daming immediately set up a solution team, using 20,000 W high-power laser cutting, a large-tonnage bending machine and an extra-long edge planer to easily cut stainless steel materials to achieve a smooth cut without burrs, high-precision edge beveling and smooth and flat molding angle precision, while also increasing the batch ship plate processing efficiency by 40% to meet the shipyard’s urgent order requirements, praised by the customer.
