Hubei Daming Delivers Precision and Professionalism in Stainless Steel Rolling for Shipbuilding

Hubei Daming continues to set new standards in high-end metal processing, having recently finished a crucial batch of stainless steel ship plate rounding orders for a major shipyard. The project—processing 8 mm thick plates into precise 3500 mm diameter arc components—required not only expert craftsmanship but also strict adherence to customer specifications on surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and traceability.

With shipbuilding entering a new phase of global upgrade and transformation, upstream service providers like Daming are playing a pivotal role in ensuring delivery timelines, improving structural quality, and optimizing costs. Daming’s latest project highlights the company’s technical capabilities, fast execution, and customer-centric approach.

Precision Rolling: Where Quality Takes Shape

Rolling is a critical step in the formation of curved hull plating—such as side plates—directly impacting hull form, assembly accuracy, and downstream processes. For this recent project, Hubei Daming undertook a series of complex steps, including cutting, beveling, rounding, welding, and polishing, to meet the high-performance requirements of the shipyard client.

Surface integrity was paramount: no visible indentations, scratches, or oil stains were permissible, and arc radius precision had to be tightly controlled. In response, Hubei Daming formed a cross-functional project team encompassing sales, production technicians, and welding experts. The team worked closely with the client to clarify specifications and quickly transitioned to production using a rigorously designed process plan.

The company deployed arc inspection samples, systematic welding assessments, and real-time quality monitoring throughout the entire workflow. The result? Flawless execution and full compliance with customer expectations—once again demonstrating Daming’s robust capabilities in the high-end metal processing sector.

Daming Ship Plate Solutions: Trusted by Shipyards Worldwide

As Chinese manufacturing asserts global leadership in shipbuilding, Daming continues to distinguish itself with nearly two decades of experience—particularly in chemical tanker ship plate processing. At its Jingjiang base, Daming’s workshop recently provided duplex stainless steel plate solutions for a large chemical tanker, earning strong recognition from a leading shipyard.

Daming’s ship plate service system is certified by major classification societies, including BV (France), DNV (Norway), LR (UK), and CCS (China). This certification underscores the company’s readiness to support the world’s most demanding shipbuilding projects.

Differentiated Capabilities, Patented Technologies

Daming offers customized ship plate solutions, including Z-shaped, Ω-shaped, and curved reducer profiles. Notably, its Z-shaped multi-thickness welding and bending technology has earned a national invention patent, and the company has accumulated substantial expertise in Ω-shaped ship plate fabrication.

Advanced equipment, innovative processes, and a factory-based prefabrication model enable Daming to support faster delivery, enhanced quality, and improved cost-efficiency for its partners. This model also reduces on-site assembly time, promotes environmental sustainability, and enhances worker safety.

Materials Partnership: Strengthening the Supply Chain

With long-term support from major steel producers like Taiyuan Iron and Steel Co. (TISCO), Daming operates a collaborative “steel mill + Daming + user” model, ensuring smooth logistics and transparent supply planning.

The company also set up a Materials R&D and Application Technology Center with steel mills and has a national CNAS laboratory accreditation, allowing it to assist with advanced projects using materials like TISCO 2205 high-strength duplex stainless steel and Shougang A500 S31803 clad plates.

Nationwide Network and Integrated Services

With eleven processing bases across China and a centralized universal processing platform, Daming can rapidly respond to customer needs throughout the shipbuilding supply chain. Services range from batch/nesting processing and rolling and unrolling substitution to cutting, planing, bending, welding, flaw detection, and custom packaging—all with strict sheet-by-sheet inspection and quality assurance.

Thanks to its strategic Yangtze River terminal, Daming is evolving from a single product supplier to a full-spectrum ship plate producer, delivering more efficient, large-scale services to domestic and international shipyards.
