On the afternoon of October 28, a strategic delegation from Shougang Group journeyed to meet with the leadership of Daming Group for what promises to be a growth-oriented collaboration. At the head of the visiting team was Mr. Xu Haiwei, Vice General Manager of Shougang Group, accompanied by Mr. Wang Xinghong (Vice General Manager, Marketing Center), Mr. Wang Tonghai (General Manager, Shougang Group Shanghai Steel Trading), and Ms. Ding Yan (Deputy Director, Hot Rolled Sales Department).

Daming’s senior team opened its doors to welcome the visitors: Mr. Liang Zongren (President of Daming International), Mr. Zhang Jun (Assistant President), Mr. Wang Xiaojian (Group Technical Director), Mr. Zhou Xiaodong (General Manager, Zhejiang Daming), Mr. Hu Qiang (General Manager, Tianjin TISCO Daming) and Mr. Shi Feng (Deputy Director, Group Supply Department). Also present was Mr. Shen Fengchu, Supply Chain Manager of Zhejiang Shicang Intelligent Warehousing Equipment Co., Ltd., intensifying the supply-chain dimension of the discussion.
Deeper Collaboration, Shared Ambitions
In a lively exchange, Mr. Wang Xiaojian walked through Daming’s latest investment in new process technologies, spotlighting the joint development of high-strength steel case studies and efforts around specialty steel applications. He also previewed an upcoming high-strength, high-precision roll-forming production line soon to start up at Shandong Daming, adding a tangible manufacturing milestone to the collaboration.
President Liang Zongren of Daming provided a broad-brush overview of the group’s operations, service advantages, and the strategic road map ahead. He noted that Daming will double-down on fast delivery, speedy turnover, and is actively building processing centres in partnership with steelmakers both domestically and in Southeast Asia. He expressed the group’s hopes for expanded partnership with Shougang, aligned around growth, innovation and supply-chain excellence.

On Shougang’s side, Mr. Wang Xinghong underscored that since its transformation, the group has committed to technological upgrading and product innovation, following a path of specialization and differentiation. He said he sees Daming’s equipment and process capabilities as valuable in supporting product development and helping both companies step into a “new era of win-win cooperation”. Mr. Xu Haiwei praised Daming’s progress—particularly its growing share of specialty steels—and reiterated Shougang’s commitment to aligning development directions, working around user needs, pooling resources, and lifting the partnership to a deeper, broader and higher level.
Spotlight on Shougang Group
To appreciate the significance of the visit, it’s worth taking a closer look at Shougang Group. Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Beijing, the company is one of China’s most enduring steel conglomerates and has undergone major transformation over the decades.
Today, its footprint extends far beyond traditional steel-making. Shougang has embraced mining, equipment manufacturing, real estate, environmental services and overseas operations. On the manufacturing side, Shougang has moved toward high-end products: automotive steel, electrical steel, tinplate and other specialty steels — areas in which the company is among China’s top suppliers.
For Daming Group, aligning with a company of Shougang’s scale and ambitions presents both opportunity and responsibility. The collaboration opens doors for Daming to leverage Shougang’s technological know-how, supply-chain strength and broad market reach.
Looking Ahead
The visit marks a clear signal that both parties intend not simply to transact, but to build a strategic partnership. With Daming’s new production line and process innovation, and Shougang’s commitment to high-end steel products and modernization, the path forward is one of co-innovation, strengthened supply chains, and accelerated growth.
As Mr. Xu put it, Shougang looks forward to strengthening cooperation around user-needs, pooling resources and taking the collaboration to a “deeper, broader and higher-level” stage.
