Daming’s Edge in U-Shaped Steel

Hubei Daming has once again demonstrated its expertise in precision manufacturing with the successful delivery of nearly 600 pieces of critical U-shaped bent components for a major bridge manufacturer. Measuring 12 meters in length and 8mm in thickness, each component required a series of highly coordinated processes—including slitting, cut-to-length, cutting, and bending. 01 Technical Challenge: From Basic Processability to High-Precision Control

Unlike conventional U-shaped manufacturing—where raw materials are directly planed and bent without stringent requirements for hole accuracy or flange control—this project introduced an entirely new level of complexity.

After leveling, round holes and custom openings had to be cut with exceptional precision. During bending, these holes needed to maintain perfect symmetry while ensuring that no flanges formed at the openings. This dual requirement significantly raised the bar for deformation control across the entire process chain.

Complicating matters further, the components initially produced by an outsourced supplier showed severe “sickle bends” during the cutting stage, which led to major edge buckling during bending. Determined to resolve the issue, the customer turned to Hubei Daming for a dependable, engineering-driven solution.
